About the Item

Modernist oil painting done in miniature on a thick block of wood of a female nude in the artist’s studio. Signed lower left by the well known New York artist, Nicholas Takis. Condition is good to very good. Unframed. Signed and dated verso and titled verso. Provenance: collection of the artist’s wife as noted on the back of the painting. Nicholas Takis began studies at Art Student’s League in 1919; in addition he took classes at New York School of Fine & Applied Art; and New York Evening School of Industrial Art.
