"Elizabeth's Hat" by Oleg Turchin is a Figurative Surrealism original oil on canvas painting measuring 58x63 in. This painting is of the Late Queen Elizabeth's life. The queen is beautifully portrayed with her diamond necklace and a carousel hat meaning "Life passes like one circle on a carousel" and the people on this carousel are the closest and most important people who have been with the Queen throughout her long life including phases of Queen Elizabeth herself, her corgi's, her children, Margaret Thatcher, prince william and harry, Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Winston Churchill, King George V, King George VI, Queen Mary, and many more. On the hat is the royal coat of arms of Great Britain, the monument of Queen Victoria, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and her crown. The broken clock represents the time that the Queen's heart stopped. The ravens are a special symbol of Power. As long as the crows live in the Tower Castle the monarchy will exist in England. On the hat also sits the new King Charles as well as her majesty and Prince Philip. This painting represents the Old with the new intertwined through architecture, people, and religion. Turchin's "Hat Series" paintings have a nod to history and culture in a way never thought of before.
Blending photorealism and surrealism, Oleg achieves a signature style of his own. The beauty of nature bursts off the canvas with vibrant life. Oleg Turchin is a Moldovan artist, born in 1964. He studied at the Sciusev children’s art school under the direction of V.B. Bulba. In 1981 he began his studies at the College of Fine Arts (I.E. Repin) with S. S. Babjuk and Proniaev. Later he studied fine arts at the Institute of Fine Arts under the direction of painting teachers I.I. Serbinov and V.I. Kazakov.
Many of his artworks are in private collections in the United States, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey (Bora Collection), Ukraine, Greece, Russia, and the Republic of Moldova.
