About the Item

A fine impressionist watercolor painting of a horse and rider by American artist Paul Sample (1896-1974). Sample was born in Louisville, Kentucky and went to school at Dartmouth College, eventually moving there to become artist in residence and settling in Vermont, where he became well known for his American and New England landscapes. Watercolor on paper, signed lower right, matted and framed under glass in a simple molded wooden frame, with some rubs. Dimensions: 11 in H x 13.5 in W, sight; 21 in H x 23.13 W x 1 in D. Ref: 8
