He then decided to become a full-time artist and painted landscapes, still lifes, portraits/nudes in various styles up to his early death in 1955. Alphons Müller was the proverbial hardworking bohemian artist. He lived in a small cold room above a pup and often struggled to make ends meet. On one hand he would paint commercial views of local beauty spots - often of the Lake of Bienne.
