Oil on canvas
200 x 150 cm
Framed in this antique frame 221 x 171 cm Frame (width 10,5 cm) is included.
The outstanding painter Victor Muller gets his inspiration from the old masters but is not afraid to do different things with his subjects.
Victor Mullers' work is to be seen in several collections worldwide as in houses all over the world.
Still lifes, hidden gardens, quiet waters with carefully sculpted trees, to name a few of the artist's subjects.
The works of this artist have many stories, everything is carefully composed and put together. Not only the paintings, but also the titles can appeal to the imagination and evoke other times.
Victor Muller was born in 1976 in Den Helder, he lives and works in Utrecht. He graduated at the Willem de Kooning Academy of arts.
The works by Victor Muller have a very recognizable signature. This concerns his style but also his subjects. Landscapes and still lifes in which the composition at first sight is mainly determined by a special geometry that predominates in the entire work. The color scheme and the traditional elaboration of the subjects can both be called sublime.
However, the work that can be seen at Bonnard during 'The Classics' is a mix of the above work and a 'new' direction of the artist. New in quotes because the artist himself had been working on this for years.
Victor Muller himself about this:
“For the exhibition at Galerie Bonnard I made a mix of classic still lifes on panel, in antique 19th century frames. In contrast, I show a few more abstract works. It also contains many figurative elements. For me it has been a long search/discovery journey to arrive at this combination of works. That resulted in very experimental work that I did not share with the outside world.
For years I secretly enjoyed seeing these different works side by side in my own studio. Making those more abstract works also made me look more clearly at my classical work, I saw more clearly where I wanted to go with it. So I need that distraction to create space in my creative thinking and to further crystallize certain aspects of a genre....”
His pieces you can find all over the world, for example the famous Dutch football trainer Guus Hiddink already bought 10 of his paintings for his houses all over the world.
We ship worldwide for free in a custom made wooden crate like you can see on the last picture, or, please mind, depending on where you live we will ship the painting on a roll without stretcher.

- Cuban Artist Pastel Drawing African American Emilio Cruz Bonnie & Clyde PaintingLocated in Surfside, FLEmilio Cruz (1938-2004) Bonnie and Clyde Pastel on paper Hand signed lower right Dimensions Framed H 15-7/8" W 18-1/2", Sight H 13-1/2" W 16-1/8" Emilio Antonio Cruz (1938 – 2004) was a Cuban American artist who lived most of his life in New York City. His work is held in several major museums in the United States. Emilio Antonio Cruz was an American Artist of Cuban descent. He was born in the Bronx on March 15, 1938. He studied at the Art Students League of New York with Edwin Dickinson, George Grosz and Frank J. Reilly and at The New School in New York City, and finally at the Seong Moy School of Painting and Graphic Arts in Provincetown, Massachusetts. As a young artist in the 1960s, Cruz was connected with other artists who were applying abstract expressionism concepts to figurative art such as Lester Johnson, Red Grooms, Mimi Gross, Bob Thompson and Jan Muller. He combined human and animal figures with imagery from archaeology and natural history to create disturbing, dreamlike paintings. Cruz received a John Hay Whitney Fellowship and awards from the Joan Mitchell Foundation and from the National Endowment for the Arts. In the late 1968, Emilio and wife Patricia Cruz moved to St. Louis to work with Julius Hemphill and the Black Artists Group. He served as director for the visual arts program, which also included painters Oliver Jackson and Manuel Hughes. In addition to artistic contributions, the couple participated in city-wide civil rights protests and rent strikes. Cruz moved to Chicago and taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago during the 1970s, where he exhibited widely and was represented by the Walter Kelly Gallery. He wrote two plays, Homeostasis: Once More the Scorpion and The Absence Held Fast to Its Presence. These were first performed at the Open Eye Theater in New York in 1981, and later were included in the World Theater Festival in Nancy and Paris, France, and in Italy. In 1982 he returned to New York where he began to exhibit again. In the late 1980s he resumed teaching at the Pratt Institute and at New York University. Harry Rand, Curator of 20th Century Painting and Sculpture at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, described Emilio Cruz as one of the important pioneers of American Modernism of the 1960s for his fusion of Abstract Expressionist art with figuration. Geno Rodriguez, Curator and Executive Director of The Alternative Museum, wrote in 1985, "Emilio Cruz, is a brilliant and impassioned artist whose current paintings are monumental, imbued with intelligence, fury and an apt sense of irony. They reflect the turbulent world within which we live." Geoffrey Jacques wrote in 1990, "Emilio Cruz paints humanity’s essence. Mythology and archeology are the foremost concerns of the painter Emilio Cruz. Dinosaurs, skeletal humans and fossil-like images are used in his work as metaphoric signposts in a consideration of the basic questions of existence." Art historian and curator Paul Staiti wrote in 1997, "Emilio Cruz's Homo sapiens series is a strange and haunting genealogy of the modern soul... What is at stake here more than biopolitical culture, is the remystification of the body and mapping of consciousness ... For all the trauma, explicit and implicit, Cruz's style is masterful, classical, even beautiful." Exhibitions Cruz held his first solo exhibition at the Zabriskie Gallery in New York in 1963. Afterwards his work was included in many group and solo exhibitions, including the Anita Shapolsky Gallery in 1986 and 1991, museum exhibitions at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 1987, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1997. In 1994, Cruz's work was shown as part of the American contingent at the IV Bienal Internacional de Pintura en Cuenca, Ecuador. Other American artists exhibiting at this show were Donald Locke...Category

- 19th century landscape oil painting of a village tavern with a windmillBy John Holland SeniorLocated in Moreton-In-Marsh, GloucestershireJohn Holland Snr British, (1830-1886) The Windmill Tavern Oil on canvas, signed Image size: 13 inches x 20.5 inches Size including frame: 18.25 inches x 25.75 inches Provenance: Frost & Reed John Holland Senior was a painter of landscapes and coastal scenes who was born in Nottingham around 1830. He was the son of a painter and brother to Samuel Holland also a painter and sign writer. He was also uncle to his namesake John Holland (1857-1920) whom he taught to work in charcoal and Samuel S. Holland, both of whom were artists. By 1861, he had become a full time artist exhibiting at Suffolk Street from around this time until 1879, at the British Institution between 1865-1866 as well as exhibiting locally in Nottingham. He never married and lived for many years with his father, brother and his family at Vernon Street, Nottingham. Around 1867, he moved to Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire where he exhibited locally. He would also often travel around the British countryside and coast to paint. He spent a few years in West Yorkshire but by 1871 had moved back to live with his family in Nottingham. However, he spent his final years living at Trebray Lodge, Tintagel, Cornwall where he died on 7 February 1886. A number of his works are held by the Buxton Museum, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council, Nottingham Art Gallery and the Williamson Art Gallery. The building and windmill pictured here appear very similar to those situated at Reigate Heath in Surrey. The mill at Reigate was built in 1753 and was still used for grinding wheat up until around 1870. The main building is now the Reigate Heath Golf Club. The windmill still stands today and is owned and maintained by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council. Presentation: The painting is housed in a new, English made gilt frame which is in excellent condition. The reverse bears an old label for Frost & Reed. Frost & Reed are a well-known fine Art Gallery, frame maker and fine art publisher founded in Bristol in 1808 by William Hill. The business was bought by John Frost in 1859 who ran it until his death in 1875. His nephew Walter Frost took over the business and in 1881 brought in William Reed...Category
