LOOKING FOR HAPPINESS
Like "el dorado", a cultural construction, a myth, the Looking for happiness series talks about the illusion of happiness.
Using coordinates between different geographical points and world views, seeking to generate a dialogue between stories.
In this way, places speak to tell us about degraded utopias, religious crusades, martyrs and oppressors, wars, victories, and defeats. All searches for what cannot be found.
The infinite existing possibilities, in this continuous present and its accumulation, to be history. The utopian idea of achieving completeness or completeness.
The transformation of the fabric into jewelry, the transmutation that moves from the sacred to the economic.
The "object of desire" is the engine of life and its different permutations.

he University of Chile and the University Complutense Hotels guest, Spain.

He is captivated by the idea of emptiness, as both a suggestion of solitude and as a state rife with the possibility of change and fulfillment. As a painter, he seeks out familiar, evocative scenes and concentrates on capturing the stillness of an empty room or vacant chair. His paintings can be seen as solitary, or as simply aberrant pauses between moments of frantic activity.
The works are imbued with a quality of light that brings simple, content-rich objects into sharp focus. Condron attempts to establish not so much a connection to a chair or a room, but the feeling created by the wide embrace of emptiness. Ultimately, Condron creates scenes - part representation of real places, part invention from deep in his mind. The openness of his works invites the viewer to share the moment of quiet with him. Maysaloun Faraj is an Iraqi/American born (1955) London based painter and sculptor. Growing up between the USA (1950s-60s), Baghdad (1970s) and London (from 1982) with intermittent bouts in Paris, collectively contributed to shaping Faraj’s creative output and artistic accomplishment. Graduated with a BSc in Architecture, University of Baghdad (1978) and went on to study sculptural ceramics at Putney School of Art and Design and was resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2015/17/18). Displaced by decades of war, deeply rooted in Iraq, Faraj’s work contemplates the intersection of place and identity and explores the dynamics between overarching societal concerns and the highly personal. Her visual vocabulary is colour and basic geometric forms; an ideal realm for harmony and order. Amid an aesthetic informed by architectural discipline is a complex web of references bridging East and West, ancient and contemporary, often pondering on ‘spirituality’ and the transience of human existence. Her career spans four decades with work in various mediums, creating subtle interplay between two and three-dimensional forms. Furthermore, Faraj has been an integral figure in the rise of the modern Middle East Art scene; curatorial work includes the first international showcase of Iraqi art (tour UK/USA 2000-3) exploring the work of pioneering Iraqi artists and subsequent generation. Maysaloun Faraj is an Iraqi/American born (1955) London based painter and sculptor. Growing up between the USA (1950s-60s), Baghdad (1970s) and London (from 1982) with intermittent bouts in Paris, collectively contributed to shaping Faraj’s creative output and artistic accomplishment. Graduated with a BSc in Architecture, University of Baghdad (1978) and went on to study sculptural ceramics at Putney School of Art and Design and was resident at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2015/17/18). Displaced by decades of war, deeply rooted in Iraq, Faraj’s work contemplates the intersection of place and identity and explores the dynamics between overarching societal concerns and the highly personal. Her visual vocabulary is colour and basic geometric forms; an ideal realm for harmony and order. Amid an aesthetic informed by architectural discipline is a complex web of references bridging East and West, ancient and contemporary, often pondering on ‘spirituality’ and the transience of human existence. Her career spans four decades with work in various mediums, creating subtle interplay between two and three-dimensional forms. Furthermore, Faraj has been an integral figure in the rise of the modern Middle East Art scene; curatorial work includes the first international showcase of Iraqi art (tour UK/USA 2000-3) exploring the work of pioneering Iraqi artists and subsequent generation.
