About the Item
Signed lower left, 'DeVee' for Robert DeVee (American, 1940-2017) and painted circa 1995.
Robert DeVee first studied painting at the California College of Arts and Crafts and, subsequently, at San Francisco State University. After working for ten years as a graphic artist, he took up the full-time creation of fine art in 1970. He chose, early on, to create his palette entirely from the blending of the three primary colors with the addition of white. This has resulted in the characteristically rich, pastel expression of tone found across the body of his work.
Robert DeVee exhibited nationally with success, including in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago and his home town of Bodega Bay. His paintings may be found in public and private collections and his work has graced the pages of numerous style and fashion magazines, including Interior Design and Architectural Digest.
