About the Item

Perhaps this is the magic formula that has put James Carter’s works into such high-powered corporate collections as Marriott Corporation, ABC Television Network, and Christian Dior, all in that plentiful art nexus known as New York. Other clients include the City of Miami; Greenwich, Connecticut’s The Bruce Museum, as well as the Ely Center of Contemporary Art and Yale University, both of New Haven, Connecticut.
Born in 1948, Carter earned his BFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and is distinguished by his carefully controlled trompe-l’oeil and abstract Surrealist influences, expressed in airbrushed acrylic paintings as well as serigraphs and lithographs.
