About the Item

Layers of foliage in shades of teal blue and dark violet with little clusters of bright pink flowers grace grayish violet branches on the pristine white background of this horizontal painting in acrylic on Mylar. Battenfield's works on Mylar require mounting and bracing prior to framing. The last two images show the translucency of the Mylar material prior to the mounting Price shown is the unframed price. Please inquire with the gallery for mounting and framing costs. Jackie Battenfield’s meditative painting process begins with the artist’s close attention to the graceful forms of unfolding leaves and blossoms, and to the twisted boughs and branches of trees. The artist painstakingly translates her photographic studies into drawings on large sheets of translucent Mylar, taking care to stay true to the original images. The artist makes hundreds of color studies before arriving at the palette for each painting. When applied to the Mylar, Battenfield’s ink-like pigments reassert themselves, separating and forming unexpected, distinctive abstract, transparent and opaque patterns. The finished painting on Mylar is mounted on a panel that allows light to play behind the pristine painted surface.

"Sky Blooms II" floral very large blue floral horizontal textured painting

The artwork is signed, dated and titled. Original artwork with signed Certificate of Authenticity. My artworks are a result of years of studying spiritual books written by Eckhart Tolle. Eckhart Tolle, a spiritual teacher and author, often uses flowers as a metaphor for living in the present moment, which is a central concept in his philosophy. He notes that a flower doesn't think about the past or the future; it simply exists in the present moment, fully expressing its beauty and essence. By observing and appreciating a flower, we can learn to live more fully in the present moment and experience the beauty of life around us. In Tolle's view, flowers can also remind us of the interconnectedness of all things. A flower is not separate from its environment; it relies on the sun, the soil, and other elements to grow and thrive. Similarly, we are not separate from the world around us; we are part of a larger interconnected web of life. By recognizing this interconnectedness, we can develop a greater sense of empathy and compassion for all living beings.
