Bees are buzzing, and the sun is intermittent as lazy winds move cloud shadows over the undulating land near White Cottage, Fairlight. I love London but I must admit when in England this is what really beckons me. The English countryside is well-preserved in my mind and my heart by the writings of C.S. Lewis in books like Out of the Silent Planet, and That Hideous Strength. And that was before I ever visited Great Britain. Now I am physically here and the smell of fresh-cut hay, mixing with the nearby sea drifts into my nostrils, and I think of heaven.
