Latvian Pastoral Field Landscape by Petrovs first half 20th century Oil Painting

Attributed by Aleksandrs Petrovs (1874-1956). This fine painting depicts a serene Latvian pastoral landscape, with a winding road leading to the horizon through endless fields. The painting was gift inscribed on the reverse in Latvian with date 1943, Riga. Vintage oil painting on board, signed, framed. Size app.: 23.5 x 35.3 cm (roughly 9.3 x 13.9 in), frame is 30.7 x 42.3 cm (roughly 12.1 x 16.7 in). Very good condition, minor age and usage wear. Please study good resolution images for cosmetic condition. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 0.8 kg is going to measure 2 kg packed for shipment. Painter A. Petrov was born in Voronezh. The first artistic education was from Lev Dmitriev-Kavkazski art studio at St. Petersburg, education was continued in Italy and Munich (1905). Great Russian landscape painter I. Levitan had a major influence on artist. All his life he had a friendship with Latvian graphic artist T. Uders. Since 1907 A. Petrov lived at the Valmiera, Latvia. He took part at the exhibitions in St. Petersburg since 1909. He took part also at Independent Artist Union and in their exhibitions. His main theme in paintings is Valmiera’s landscapes. Paintings are in oil and also in pastels (since 1920).
