About the Item
My process starts with taking the photographs I work from, I like to experiment with angles and light in the photographing. Every inch of the canvas has multiple layers on to build up the feeling of light, water and body, every layer focusing in on more detail until there is a balance of tight detail and watery fluidity. Every summer I do a number of photo shoots and then spend the rest of the year exploring them from different angles. This painting is part of a recurring theme that I keep coming back to, focusing on the sparkling water and movement in the swimming pool looking from the top down into the pool. I love the distorted bodies, the way the water plays with what you are seeing.

Paint has always been my favourite medium, and I feel very lucky to be able to do something I truly enjoy. I love the detail in life - a person, an animal, a shaft of light through water, the ever changing clouds. Working in oils I try to recreate a physical memory of water, sunshine and light. I aim to capture the solitude and tranquillity of water or skies by combining realism with impressionistic brushstrokes. Working from your photographs, I can produce high quality paintings of people or pets. For underwater commissions I am able to organise rental of an underwater camera to take on holiday with you to capture amazing underwater images. These unique pieces are a great gift idea or the perfect way to bring a memory to life.
