Balaji Ponna holds a Gold medal and has completed his MFA in Graphics from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan and B.F.A. (Graphics) from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, A. P. The artist lives and works in Baroda, India.

Balaji’s works respond to socio-political and cultural realities, ‘centring PEOPLE and their relation with the NATION.’
Human-inflicted calamities, dispersion of power, are some of the key areas he focuses on as depictions of the land it’s people. ‘Interrelation of Migration and Labourer, their Systemic Displacement return as questionings through his works, as they question the democratic system amidst capitalist society, as utopian dreams suspend faraway from the Social Welfare Model, as the new normal.
Expanses in deep hues, depict states of transience, as grids, text, soot/smoke work as metaphors and indicators.
