Benedicte Maria Bech Pedersen
Extra Large Relief With Dramatic Structured Surface By Danish Benedicte Pedersen

2019

About the Item

Introducing a captivating large feminine relief that exudes elegance and soothing comfort. Crafted from a single piece of suede leather, the wavy structure of the relief starts subtly at the top and gradually increases in draping towards the lower half, creating a mesmerizing tactile effect. The relief is the creation of Danish designer and artist Benedicte Maria Bech Pedersen (1988-), whose renowned work with draped suede and leather is inspired by the philosophy of slowness, sensuality, and immersion. Benedicte's affinity towards leather comes from its raw and organic characteristics, and its ability to patinate beautifully. She believes that leather's natural calming effect is due to its resemblance to human skin. The subtle grey sand color of the suede complements the overall soft dramatic effect of the draping, which can be further enhanced with spotlighting from above. The suede is wrapped around a wooden stretcher and is originally without a frame so that the dramatic and tactile experience is fully apparent from any angle. The relief is in great condition, with only a few minor areas of soiling and patina that are visible upon close inspection (see detailed photos). It is ready to hang and will make an excellent addition to any minimalistic or wabi sabi inspired interior.

The geometric play throughout the autumn landscape creates a lively ambiance for any room. The piece is finished in a gold frame with a black liner. In Gaugy's acclaimed carved paintings, all ancient and archetypal expressions of the human soul find articulation in textured lines and luminous colors, and in images that reflect the essence of who we are. • May 27 (8.59pm) - Road landscape painting
    By Edie Nadelhaft

Landscape painting, evening road scene titled "May 27 (8.59pm)" by Edie Nadelhaft - oil on canvas, 36 x 48 inches Edie Nadelhaft's paintings focus on the visual nuances and psychological ambiguity of twilight. No people are pictured, but each composition preserves some residue of the human presence, depicting desolate stretches of rural highway, some capped by an apocalyptic canopy of clouds. Rendered in a manner best described as Perceptual Realism, Nadelhaft draws the viewer into the scene, showing just as much - or as little - sharp detail as a human eye can process in person. The point of view and style of painting takes into account the fleeting nature of impressions, especially those formed while driving in low light on unfamiliar roads. In some scenes, light is greatly diminished, but it is not quite dark enough to reap the full benefit of headlights. Buildings, trees and power lines appear and disappear in a murky, shimmering haze; nighttime is fluid, rife with intrigue and for some, even dread. But the dark can also provide a portal to the imagination, opening up new possibilities and potential. And for the artist, it brings an overwhelming sense of wonder and relief. The night - especially traveling at night - offers protection, a respite, like a spell that conjures a brief suspension of responsibility and time as one hurtles through space fully enveloped in the totality of that experience. Realism, landscape painting, landscape, night scape...
