Painted en plein air on the Boardwalk at Coney Island, colorful shops are open for business and lively with people. The sky is a hazy periwinkle and is cut by the long abandoned "Parachute Jump"; a dangerous 250ft high ride that discontinued use in 1964. Lussier utilizes wide geometric brushstrokes which show his artistic touch. A Bachelor or philosophy in Russian Literature and Language, Benjamin Lussier, continues his pursuit of knowledge at Colombia University, where he has already received his Masters degree. Although he has received private instruction in oil painting from his father since 2006, it was only this past year he decided to paint full -time. Having grown up in North-eastern Connecticut, Benjamin Lussier is drawn to scenes familiar to most plein-air-painters, quiet pastures, rolling clouds, and boats docked along a harbor. These scenes, painted in Lussier’s impasto technique, create a texturally interesting piece that will captivate anyone. Lussier shows promising talent at a very early age, and has already been awarded for his work from the Salmagundi Club in 2016.
