Coastal Viewpoint is an original land/seascape painting by Cathryn Jeff. This artwork was created using unusual textures and various thin layers of paint. The artist loves the ‘happy accidents’ that occur while using this method of paint application, making this artwork a truly unique, one-off piece. The subject matter was inspired by visits to the coast in West Wales. The rugged coastline of grasses and rocks greatly inspired this piece, along with the earthy colours of greens, browns and a hint of pink for added interest. This original artwork is subtly signed bottom right hand corner with the artists initials.
Cathryn Jeff, painter and artist, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. I love to create paintings inspired by the stunning Oxfordshire countryside where I live and seascapes from my travels. These are usually enhanced by my vivid imagination. Following A Level I continued to study art at Banbury in Oxfordshire and finally a degree at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham, totalling six years of art training and many, many more years experimenting. I enjoy the experimental approach of trying out different mediums including ink, acrylic, oil and watercolour. The application of the paint is an exciting experience for me creating interesting marks such as splashes, dripping, masking, dry brushing and palette knife effects. Working in a spontaneous manner, I relish in the excitement of the unpredictable nature of the media I combine.
