Well painted American Impressionist landscape signed Everet. The artist was a Chinese/American painter who lived and worked in Hackensack, New Jersey. I met the artist on many occasions in the late 1990s when I lived in New York and he was a very talented and pleasant chap. I asked him to paint different commissions for a client who wanted a certain color or subject and he was always able to amaze me with what he could produce. I have many paintings by him in my own collection. This is an oil on canvas. The piece was in a private collection towards the late 1990s and has been recently re-framed and revarnished. Of Anglo Irish parentage, his father was typical of his generation and worried about Ken’s artistic temperament which he viewed as effeminate. As a result, Ken took up boxing and won a gold medal for South London in his teens. His art continued to flourish with his trademark striking use of color. Joris, Pio Joris attended the Istituto di Belle Arti in Rome and in 1861 he enrolled at the Accademia di San Luca, where he remained for just a year. On a visit to the 1st Esposizione Nazionale di Belle Arti of Florence in 1861 he was attracted by the naturalistic works from the Naples school. He came into contact with Domenico Morelli and Filippo Palizzi during a trip to Capri, Sorrento and Naples in 1866. In Rome, he kept company with Mariano Fortuny, whose painting, with its pleasant, captivating luministic effects, made a very strong impression on Joris.
