Signed and dated oil on canvas riverscape by French impressionist painter Charles-Victor Guilloux. The work depicts a view of the houses of the commune Heblay-sur-Seine lining the banks of the River Seine. The sun is setting overhead and the beautiful pastel colours of the skyline are reflecting in the water below. Signature: Signed & dated 1906 lower right Dimensions: Framed: 19"x24" Unframed: 13"x18" Provenance: Private French collection Charles Guilloux was born in Paris in 1866. He worked at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and was a self-taught artist. He exhibited his works from 1892. He exhibited at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1905, and at the Salon des Indépendants from 1911 to 1914. He died in Lormes in 1946.
