Signed and dated oil on canvas riverscape by French impressionist painter Charles-Victor Guilloux. The work depicts a view of the houses of the commune Heblay-sur-Seine lining the banks of the River Seine. The sun is setting overhead and the beautiful pastel colours of the skyline are reflecting in the water below. Signature: Signed & dated 1906 lower right Dimensions: Framed: 19"x24" Unframed: 13"x18" Provenance: Private French collection Charles Guilloux was born in Paris in 1866. He worked at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and was a self-taught artist. He exhibited his works from 1892. He exhibited at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1905, and at the Salon des Indépendants from 1911 to 1914. He died in Lormes in 1946. This early work by Vignon was painted whilst he was under the tutelage of Camille Corot in the period between 1869 and 1870 .
