Clara Louise Bell (1886 - 1978) House on a Hill, circa 1935 Gouache on artist board 7 1/4 x 9 7/8 inches Clara Louise Bell (Mrs.Bela Janowsky) was born in Newton Falls, Ohio in 1886 and died in 1995. She received her art training at the Cleveland Institute of Art; later studying with Henry G. Keller and William J. Eastman. While a student she started painting miniatures on ivory and this led to her first solo show in Cleveland at the Taylor Gallery. She has executed numerous miniatures of the Presidents of the United States as well as figures in society and education.
