About the Item

Claude Cambour: A Life of Light and Impressionism Free US CONTINENTAL shipping, incl Europe and Asia. Claude Cambour, born in Dreux, west of Paris, in 1940, took his first steps into the world of art through the influence of great artists. The first was Maurice de Vlaminck, for whom Cambour’s grandfather served as a gardener for many years. Throughout his childhood, other artists also shaped the path of his destiny. After completing his military service in Germany and North Africa, Cambour moved to Paris, where his growing passion for painting followed him. Seeking inspiration from his favorite motifs in the Normandy region, he eventually decided it was wiser to settle there permanently. In 1985, he established his studios in Giverny, bringing himself closer to his idol, Claude Monet, and to the Norman countryside that evoked the paths of his childhood. For many years, Claude Cambour has shared the beauty and light of this region through his paintings, capturing its countryside, gardens, and rivers. While developing his own style characterized by luminous light and vibrant colors, he became a passionate advocate for modern Impressionism. His works, supported by radio, television, and newspapers, continue to convey this message. Recognizing his artistic talents, prestigious American galleries, such as the Wally Findlay Gallery, opened doors for Cambour to present his work to a world in need of beauty and poetry. Through all seasons, Cambour roamed the countryside, seeking floral landscapes and shimmering reflections on water. His paintings express color, light, and romanticism. With his classical and traditional style, he carved out a significant place as a representative of the Impressionist movement he revered. His relentless dedication to maintaining the quality of Impressionism earned him worldwide recognition and a lasting reputation. Thousands of paintings from his Giverny studios now adorn the homes of passionate collectors. This biography is sourced from the Association Giverny. Claude Cambour passed away tragically on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, in Giverny. He was in his 72nd year. "The entire sky is the dome of my church, and every painting I create is a prayer I hang on the walls of life—for you." —Claude Cambour Please ask us for a conditional reports and we will either respond to you by email or call you back.
