Claude Gaveau
A L'Ombre (In the Shade)

About

Gaveau blurs abstraction and reality in this street scene. The turquoises and blues, reminiscent of Greece, accentuate his beautiful and balanced lines. The path leads around the bend to an unknown place inviting imagination. Claude Gaveau was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France on December 5, 1940. Between 1955 and 1959 Gaveau studied and received a diploma at L’Ecole des Arts Appliques in Paris. During this period he learned the disciplines of mural and fresco painting, tapestry design and stained glass. Gaveau attended L’Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1959 and received his diploma in 1965. The artist studied oil painting, watercolor, drawing and lithography. Gaveau was awarded a scholarship to study Flemish painting in Belgium. The artist spent four months in Belgium which led to his first one man show in Brussels in 1965. Claude Gaveau has been exhibiting in France for over 40 years and throughout Europe and the United States for twenty-eight years.
