Mid Century Modern Swedish Abstract Landscape Oil Painting - Crimson Horizons

1950s

About the Item

CRIMSON HORIZONS Size: 56 X 66.5 cm (including frame) Oil on canvas A dynamic and emotive mid-century abstract landscape composition that celebrates form, colour, and texture over representational detail, painted in oil onto canvas. Depicting an abstraction of forms and colours that have been structured into horizontal layers, the painting appears to evoke a natural landscape setting, with elements that suggest earthy terrains under a vivid sky. The piece is distinctly abstract expressionist, characterised by broad, confident brushstrokes and a rich, impasto technique that emphasises the tactile quality of the paint. The use of colour is bold and heightens the emotional resonance of the scene – leaning on an earthy palette of browns, reds, and greens, with contrasting hints of blue in the upper portion, suggesting a sky. The brushstrokes are sweeping and deliberate, applied with a visible, almost sculptural texture. This technique gives the work a sense of motion and raw energy, engaging the viewer with its dynamic surface. This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Please note all of the artworks we sell are vintage and unless otherwise stated, their condition is typical for their age. This can sometimes include slight changes in colour, yellowing to the varnish, and minor bumps and bruises. We have tried to include as many close-up photos as possible. Should you need more photos or wish to ask us more questions regarding an item's condition, feel free to contact us, we are always happy to help.

Contemporary British Abstract Landscape Framed Oil Painting - Urban Landscape
Located in Bristol, GB
URBAN LANDSCAPE Size: 38.5 x 53.5 cm (including frame) Oil on board A brilliantly executed semi- abstract landscape composition, painted in oil onto board by contemporary British artist Ian Mood. The artist works in broad, expressive strokes, filling in the urban scene with a cacophony of colour. We see areas of the canvas as well as the artist’s outlines, giving it a very raw quality, emphasising the uncompromising nature of the urban landscape. This oil on board is housed in a complementary light blue frame with an inner white window that pairs wonderfully with the painting. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition. About the artist: Ian Mood is a contemporary artist with an international reputation, having shown work with Saatchi London, Brooklyn Art Library, Battersea Art Fair & Manchester Art Fair – as well as being represented by numerous established galleries in the UK and US. Rainy Hot Day - Tall Colorful Original Abstract Landscape Oil Painting
By Ekaterina Ermilkina
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Ekaterina Ermilkina’s original, abstract fine art paintings are created using a skillful combination of applying and removing oil paint with a palette knife on canvas. Her inspirations are the expressionistic skylines of big cities like Manhattan, Philadelphia, or Chicago filled with colorful skyscrapers. The urban, scenic views are abstracted and rich with vivid and textured layers. Ermilkina’s emotional architectural patchwork and mosaic cityscapes radiate a life of balance and positive energy. This artwork measures 60 inches high by 20 inches wide. Ermilkina carefully adds thick cube-like dots of oil paint with a palette knife in distinct patterns onto the surface, adding an intricate three-dimensional texture to her oil paintings. The color spots partially blend into a fuller range of background tones and give the artworks a significant depth. She signs the front of the artwork and paints the sides as a continuation of the front. It does not require framing. It is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the gallery is included. Born in 1975, Saratov, Russia, Ekaterina Ermilkina now lives and works in New Jersey. She grew up in the beautiful city of Yalta in Crimea on the North coast of the Black Sea, where in 1985 she enrolled as a student to the School of Art of F.Vasiliev, graduating in 1991. After her first introduction to fine art in Yalta, in 1992, Ekaterina Ermilkina moved to Saint-Petersburg, Russia. In 1998 she received her MFA from State Art and Industry Academy. The unique beauty and rich culture of the city inspired her to paint cityscapes. In late 2005, Ermilkina moved to the U.S. Her works has been presented in various solo and group exhibitions in international galleries and art fairs and have been collected throughout the United States, as well as Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, and Russia. Her artworks pop with color and motion, casting a candied haze across the urban landscape. “I am focused on art all my life. It makes me optimistic, full of energy and happy. The vivid colors of Crimea where I grew up, the beautiful marine of the Black Sea, inspired me to paint for the rest of my life. I believe that paintings can reflect our desires for beauty, poetics and perfection.” Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Ekaterina Ermilkina's original oil paintings since 2013. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide.
