Dmitri Wright’s artistic lineage stems from the American Impressionists. His mentors have been Samuel Brecher, who studied under Charles W. Hawthorne the founder of the Cape Cod Art School. Hawthorne was a student of William Merritt Chase. Donald Brown an expressionist influenced Wright to accept the Max Beckman International Scholarship at the Brooklyn Museum Art School where he then studied under Rueben Tam; and at Cooper Union he studied under Wolf Kahn and Will Barnet. Legacy: As an American artist, Wright’s travels have taken him to paint and/or teach throughout the United States and visiting over a dozen National Park sites in addition to Italy, France, Ireland, Austria, England, West Indies, Central and South America, and China. His work focuses on the Preservation and Progress of Impressionism. Collections: Wright’s work is housed in hundreds of collections. "New England Farm, " Landscape Oil Painting

This large landscape oil painting by John Traynor captures a scene in New England. Cows are visible in front of a long picket fence, with a red barn and house behind the fence and lush green trees on either side and along the hills in the horizon. Fluffy, almost abstracted clouds sit above the hills, with a patch of blue skies shining through toward the top of the image. The painting is 48" x 72", and 58" x 82" framed. It is professionally framed in a classic, antiqued, gold leaf frame. It is signed by the artist in the bottom right-hand corner of the canvas, and is wired and ready to hang. John C. Traynor's painting style is reminiscent of some 19th century painters and the Dutch Masters. He uses his knowledge of light and color to create a certain mood in each of his works. The creation of atmosphere is an important element in Traynor's paintings. Painting outdoors, on location, is a prime source of inspiration and ideas for his landscapes. John travels extensively, painting the landscapes around him. John was born in 1961 and spent his early years in Chester and Mendham, New Jersey. His art studies began at Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey, and from there he furthered his education at Paier College of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. Wonderful mid century landscape of Ojai, California with charming stucco cottage and almond trees in bloom and mountains in background titled, "Storm over Ojai" by Margaret Anna Dobson (American, 1888-1981), 1959. Signed faintly, lower right. Signed in pencil "Margaret Dobson", titled "Storm Over Ojai" and dated "1959" on verso. Presented in vintage gilt-toned wood frame. Image size: 12"H x 16"W. Framed size: 14"H x 17.75"W. Margaret Dobson was a painter, illustrator, muralist, etcher. Born in Baltimore, MD on Nov. 9, 1888. Dobson studied at the Maryland Institute, PAFA, Fontainebleau School of Art (Paris), and Syracuse University. She studied privately with Daniel Garber, Cecilia Beaux, Violet Oakley, Emil Carlsen, Robert Vonnoh, Hugh Breckenridge, and others. She was active in London, England until 1933. She then settled in Los Angeles where she remained until her death on Jan. 20, 1981. Primarily a muralist, she also painted floral still lifes and landscapes of the Sierra and southern California.
