About the Item
The painting depicts the river Main, which has overflowed its banks and flooded the surrounding area. We see only the distant high bank: hills of vineyards, buildings on the top, a railway tunnel, lights of lanterns reflected in the water. The near shoreline is missing. The soil appears in islands covered with grass and melting snow. It is raining on this winter day, so we see circles from drops on the water, which create ripples, swaying the reflections of the trees. The trees themselves are standing in the water. Their bare branches, which have not yet completely shed their withered leaves, intertwine, forming a bizarre ornament through which the sky shines and the distant shore is visible.

Dmitry graduated from the Moscow Secondary Art School at the Surikov Institute and the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
