About the Item
This landscape was painted from life in Würzburg (Bavaria, Germany) near the ancient medieval fortress of Marienberg. On the right we see the gates and part of the fortress wall that have survived to this day. The main part of the landscape is occupied by the alley of the park located at the foot of the fortress. It is sunny summer morning. On the left, behind the gate, greenery illuminated by the rays of the rising sun. The trees in the middle and on the right are in the shade. Some of their foliage and trunks play with sun glare. On the ground, on the grass and the path, sun spots alternate with lacy shadows of a soft purple hue. The landscape is permeated with a joyful, peaceful mood. It is executed in a manner close to impressionism.
