About the Item

"Woods at Chickamauga" is a large oil on canvas featuring vibrant hues of bright yellow, green, blue, orange and red. Born in 1944, Kellogg developed his early artistic interests studying in the children’s program at the Philadelphia Art Institute before moving to San Diego, California. He studied painting at Wheaton College and San Diego State University receiving a BA in art in 1966 and a MA in painting and printmaking in 1968. After a year of public school teaching and two years in the U.S. Army, he worked and studied under Dutch artist Henk Krijger in Toronto, Canada. From 1973 to 2010, Kellogg taught at Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Currently, he is Emeritus Professor of Art at Covenant College, and works in his studio in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Kellogg has had over forty solo shows of his paintings, silk-screen and relief prints in galleries throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada and the Netherlands. His work has been exhibited in numerous group shows including an exhibit of Art from Appalachia titled “More Than Land or Sky” at the National Museum of American Art, Washington D.C. Kellogg’s paintings of the Southeastern landscape are included in many private and corporate collections nationwide, as well as in over thirty hospitals, and five southern art museums
