Egor Plotnikov was born in Kirov (Russia) in 1980.
2000 – graduated from the Rylov Art School of Vyatka.
2006 – graduated from Moscow’s Surikov State Academy Art Institute (class of Pavel Nikonov).
2006-2010 – had a study placement at the Russin Academy of Arts (class of Sergey and Alexey Tkachev).
Since 2006 – a member of the Moscow Union of Artists.
Since 2006 – a member of the Creative Union of Artists.
Since 1994 – a participant in exhibitions (Russia, Italy, Belgium, Germany, USA, Denmark, Sweden, France, Netherlands).
Plotnikov’s works are in private collections inside and outside Russia, including the Russian Culture Fund collection, the Moscow Union of Artists collection, the collection of Russian Academy of Arts, the Moscow Museum of modern art, the Aksenov Foundation, “Art-Finance” and Russian regional art museums.
Egor Plotnikov works in the area of figurative painting and sculpture. Paintings and sculpture objects are presented often as combined installations.
Plotnikov researched the theme of real landscape as a social area and painting landscape, the «museum» genre being at the periphery of the contemporary cultural context. Plotnikov paints canvases wastes, edges, and front-end areas which are located at the limits of human habitation and wild nature, and moves the personage of painting, sculpture of viewer, out the edges of the picture. A work of art starts to view itself. Big paintings are shrunk to small insignificant landscape fragments and personage sculpture starts to hide from the viewer. Empty walls/canvas/sheets of paper and space in the exhibition hall become a communication field and an important part of a work of art.
In the contemporary period of crisis when codes were broken and conventions don’t work most important thing is become a problem of adequacy of pure vision. And the artist asks about is it possible today the immediately direct contact the viewer with art and a person with real space.

When i painting landscapes, I usually choose simple geometric arrangements, contrasts of verticals and levels. I juxtapose the smooth surface of the sky with the rough texture of earth or grass.
I paint symmetrical reflections in water and rhythmic repetitions of trees. Even an ordinary, seemingly uninteresting fragment of the suburban landscape hides a beauty that I want to see and then transfer to the canvas.
I am inspired by nature because it contains a hidden secret of existence. For me, painting it is a reflection on life and passing away. It is an attempt to capture the imperceptible essence, to paint what cannot be seen.
I think that my paintings can be a respite, an antidote for a man tired of technology, constant rush, hustle and bustle of the city.
