Finely painted American school modernist dock scene by Eleanor Beatrice Acker (Born 1907). Watercolor and gouache on paper. Nicely framed. Signed and dated. Artist biography; Eleanor Beatrice Acker was a block printer, designer, drawing specialist, illustrator and painter.
She was born in 1907 in Camden, New Jersey and lived in Collingswood, New Jersey. She studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Arts; Moore Institute; Philadelphia School of Design for Women; Graphic Sketch Club with Earl Horter.
She was a member of the American Artists Professional League. She won prizes in 1934 at the Graphic Sketch Club in Philadelphia; in 1935 from the 1st Annual Collingswood Annual Art Exhibition; and prizes in 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee and Camden, New Jersey. She also exhibited at the Studio Club in New York.
Her work can be found in the Graphic Sketch Club in Philadelphia and in the Collingswood Public Library. Her woodblocks are quite rare as they were only printed in editions of 5 -10.
