The painting was originally painted for and hung in the "Zebra Lounge" of the White Swan Dinner Club in East Canton, OH, by Frank Eggleston, who was a professional sign painter in Canton. Along with this painting there was an additional zebra painting of similar style depicting two zebras facing each other, and two paintings depicting semi-nude woman in zebra-striped cloth.
