    Located in Soquel, CA
    Beautiful early 19th Century oil painting of Lake Tahoe with Indian encampment on far side of lake by John Englehart (AKA as John Englehardt), (American, 1867-1915). A peaceful lake at dawn reflects snow-capped mountains in background with redwoods and dirt road to lake. At far side of lake, an Indian encampment shows the wisps of a campfire. Signed "Delane" lower right (see further notes below) Many, perhaps all, of these are renderings of scenes in the Lake Tahoe area. Englehart worked under a number of pseudonyms and used variant spellings including Delane, J. Engelhardt, J. Englehardt, J. Englehart, J. Engelhart, C.N. Doughty, C.C. Foucks, C.L. Willis, J.L.   • New England Autumnal Bucolic Landscape -- Cows by the Watering Hole 19th Century

    Gorgeous late 19th Century landscape of cows near watering hole with birch trees and puffy clouds in background by Wesley John Straight (American, 1855 - 1922). Signed lower left corner and on verso. Title "Autumn in New England" on verso lower stretcher bar. Condition: Good; professionally cleaned and restored; minor abrasions repaired and in-painted (see images). Unframed. Image size: 40"H x 32"W. Born in Wisconsin on May 20, 1855. Straight appears to have migrated to northern California in the late 1870s. While a resident of San Jose and Grass Valley, he painted scenes of the northern coast and other scenic spots. After moving to southern California in 1912, he lived at the Southern Hotel in San Bernardino until his demise on April 5, 1922.     Factories - Industrial Landscape in Oil on Linen Bold industrial landscape by Doris Lyons Hoover (American, 1927-2014). A large red building sits at the left edge of the composition with a grey building across the composition to the right. Three smokestacks let of smoke or steam, surrounded by piping and tanks running throughout the scene. Signed "Lyons" in the lower right corner and on verso. Canvas size: 24"H x 30"W No frame. Doris Lyons Hoover (American, 1927-2014) was born in Fort Payne, Alabama, on Oct. 8, 1927, on her grandparents' farm. She was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and attended college at the University of Chattanooga, (now UTC) where she received honors in ar. At U.C. she met her husband Jack Hoover, and the couple moved to Palo Alto in 1954.
