"Sunday Service, a lovely mid-century figurative village street scene by Frank Serratoni (American, 1908-1970), c. 1940s. A family is shown strolling through the tree-lined street of a quaint village towards a red church. Signed "Frank Serratoni" bottom right. Displayed in a period wood frame with burlap liner. Image size: 17.5"H x 23.25"W. Frank attended select classes at the Chicago Art Institute. In the late 1940s he moved to San Francisco, California. Frank Serratoni is known for using a half tone screen to print a basic outline and then hand-watercolor painted his entire work. Serratoni watercolors hang in the Fairmount Hotel in San Francisco, CA and the exclusive Olympic men's club.

A teacher, he moved to Wichita as a teenager and did sign painting for the Western Sign Works. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art in 1916, the American Academy of Art in Chicago, the Audubon School of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a pupil of Carl Scheffler, J. Wellington Reynolds, and H.A. Oberteuffer. He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago and at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He was an illustrator for McCalls, Good Housekeeping, Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, and many others, including American Artist magazine.     Highly detailed landscape with a house and car by Edward K. Williams (American, 1870-1950). A large house sits atop a hill, looking down over a road that runs along the river. Three people are driving a car from the 1930s along the road. The scene is rendered with great detail - both the house and the car are very accurate. Born in Philadelphia in 1875, Martha Walter attended Girls’ High School followed by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. It was at the Academy that Walter’s artistic talent was discovered. An admiring instructor by the name of William Merritt Chase took young Martha under his wing, giving her both inspiration and direction. She additionally enrolled with Chase at his summer school in Shinnecock, Long Island and in 1903, was awarded the Cresson Traveling Scholarship by the Pennsylvania Academy. This sent Martha Walter on travels to France, Italy, Spain, and Holland, where she attended the Grand Chaumiere and the Academie Julian in Paris.
