About the Item
*2025, Selected for Social Art Award - Artist Spotlight Top 100, the Institute for Art and Innovation, Germany.
**2022, Hypermorph Garden 4.0. Virtual Art Exhibition, Malaysia.
Hypermorph Garden 4.0 is a series of paintings featuring flora, fauna and the historical remains at the mangrove forest in the Kedah state, Malaysia.
The mangrove forest has splendid salt-tolerant trees that it plays an importance role in protecting oceans and coastal areas. It provides a buffer zone to protect shorelines and improves water quality. Through Hypermorph Garden 4.0 virtual tour, I aim to initiate a public awareness about: 1) the importance of mangrove forest to serve as vital habitats for marine life and carbon sinks , 2) to put an end to mangrove deforestation, 3) mangrove forests are highly efficient at absorbing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to mitigate climate change and to control sea-level rise.
Hypermorph Garden 4.0 series has 15 pieces of mixed media paintings, which the content on each canvas is interconnected to each other, to elaborate a comprehensive scene around the mangrove forest. Each canvas is W122 x H152.5cm, the series has 15 pieces which they make the interconnected length to become 1,830cm.
Hypermorph Garden 4.0 was exhibited inside a custom-made dome tent situated at the entrance of the mangrove forest reserve at Jetty Semeling, Kedah State in Malaysia. Diameter of the dome tent was 10meters. The hemispherical space of the tent created an immersive environment with impressive peripheral vision of the series.
***WE WILL SHIP THE PAINTING SERIES IN 15 CUSTOM-MADE CARDBOARD BOXES.***

I am a visual artist based in Kedah state, Malaysia. My calligraphic artworks take inspiration from the natural landscape and plants. It is a nostalgic reflection of my childhood spent in the Chinese herbal shop. Both of my late grandparents were Chinese from Southern China with backgrounds in Chinese herbs and medicine. They ran a small herbal shop in a small town called: Sungai Petani (it means Peaceful River). It was there where I learned the importance of Chinese herbs and the stories around them. It is these stories and my visions about plants that provides an endless inspiration for the calligraphic floral paintings. “Inspired by her family’s background in Chinese herbal medicine, Fuen creates calligraphic botanical paintings with dense, rhythmic compositions and bold mark making.” – Rebecca Wilson The vision provides me an endless inspiration to developing artworks, such as: the calligraphic floral paintings series (exhibited at the Vintners Place, London, 2019), the extra-long interconnected paintings about the mangroves (captured by drone and Matterport and perform through VR technology, 2022) and upcycling worn-out fibres to make The Storytelling Wardrobe (exhibited at the London Design Festival, 2016) Starting out as a self-taught artist, I eventually studied a Fine Art research degree at the Royal College of Art. The 4 metres long storytelling painting installed on an optical canvas at the entrance corridor of the Royal College of Art Jay Mews campus, citing the following response from the panel of judges: ‘We very much enjoyed your proposal and presentation and thought there were a lot of interesting possibilities that may emerge from your works.’ I continue to develop artworks concerning the natural landscape, within a more contemporary context.

Chicago From London - Birds-Eye View From the London House Hotel, Chicago, IL
By Albert Vidal Moreno
Located in Chicago, IL
***This artwork is currently on exhibit at the Instituto Cervantes, Chicago until September 2025. If purchased this artwork will be available to ship after September 1, 2025. Contact the gallery with questions.
While visiting Chicago in the summer of 2019, Vidal was afforded a stunning view of the city from various vantage points. This bird's eye view is from the London House Hotel looking north up the famed Michigan Avenue capturing a portion of Chicago's iconic skyline. The loose, abstract brush strokes and warm color palette come together in this remarkable urban landscape painting. The bottom of the painting is marked with Vidal's signature - a series of numbers. The artist has carried the painting over the edges, thus allowing it to remain unframed. Alternate framing options can be discussed with the gallery.
