About the Item
Gaston’s real name is Chen Wei. He was born on July of 1972, in the Chinese Province of Heirongjiang. The beauty of art captivated Gaston at an early age.
After receiving his art degree from Heirongjiang University in 1991, he decided to become an art teacher at a nearby high school. After two years of teaching, he decided to pursue a job in commercial art at the Gihyun art studio in Beijing. He painted decorative and commercial art. For three years, his paintings were displayed at many different art expo’s across China. In 1996, he decided to attend the Central Art Institute in Beijing to learn more about art. In 1997, he decided to go back to the Gihyun art studio to practice commercial art.
One day he decided to change his name to fit his art. He and a client decided on Gaston, because his color and style was reminiscent of France. Gaston is known for his own genuine style and colors. His French Impressionistic pieces are a big hit in the US. One can see samples of Gaston’s work at the Waterfront Hilton Hotel in Huntington Beach, CA. Unfortunately, he passed away on January 27, 2024.
