About
British Victorian artist George Hickin painted this Welsh rocky river landscape oil painting. Painted in 1849, the location is the river Llugwy at Betws y Coed in Wales. Two young boys sit on the rocks above, fishing, as the river swirls round boulders and under a bridge. The light beautifully catches the boys and rocks. A lovely example of Victorian landscape oil painting and of Hickin's work, housed in a stunning frame with good provenance.
