About the Item
Gleb SAVINOV (Kharkiv prov., Ua 1915 – St. Petersburg 2000)
Gleb Alexandrovich Savinov was born in Ukraine and spent part of his childhood in Saratov. His father, Alexander Ivanovich Savinov (1881–1942), a talented painter, draftsman and teacher, was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1922 they moved from Saratov to Petrograd. In 1928-1930 Savinov started working in the studio of his father while still attending school. In 1934, after graduating from high school he enrolled at the painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied with, among many others, Alexander Osmerkin. In 1940 Savinov graduated and married his classmate and talented artist Olga Bogaevskaya. This happy family and creative union lasted sixty years. Since that year Gleb Savinov participated in art exhibitions with portraits, historical and genre paintings, landscapes, interior scenes, still lives. He served during the Great War and in 1944 he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. In 1945-1947 he taught in the Repin Institute, then from 1949 to 1979 in the Vera Mukhina Institute, where since 1969 he was Professor of Painting. In 1973 Gleb Savinov was awarded the honorary title of the Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Solo exhibitions took place in Russia and abroad.
Since 1950s Savinov gained fame and recognition as a master of genre painting, especially everyday life scenes and interiors.
Through Savinov’s eyes, apparently banal subjects become unique, everyday moments seem rare, what it is ordinary becomes extraordinary. Savinov finds the beauty in simple and daily things and that’s why he reveals his great ability in representing life especially in “easy” subjects, such as scenes of family life and interiors. Even his en plein air landscapes are so lyrical and harmonious.

Emilio Grau Sala came from a family of artists. He was born in Barcelona in 1911 and his father, a good cartoonist, had been one of the promoters of the "Salon des Humanistes" and made his exhibitions normally in the Parés Hall.
His first works were exhibited at the Salon des Independents, in the years 1930-33.
Grau Sala was essentially a Mediterranean painter, son of post-impressionism and enriched with French painting of the last fifty years.
Grau Sala lived and absorbed all the avant-garde movements that broke through in Paris, but never adhered to any. Creating your personal style. His pictorial lyricism and naturalism superimposed the evotative and sensitive quality of the image to any other concern. In 1953 Grau Sala spends his first summer in Honfleur becoming one of the most active Honflerian painters. Honfleur forms a coast triangle next to Deauville and Trouville, and in that August of 53, Grau Sala pinto is an elegant beach, which at that time met French and European high society.
His works can be found in the Museums of the Villa de Paris, L'Ile de France Museum, at the Château de Sceaux, Honfleur Museum, La Rochelle Museum, Barcelona Museum, Tossa de Mar...

His first works were exhibited at the Salon des Independents, in the years 1930-33.
Grau Sala was essentially a Mediterranean painter, son of post-impressionism and enriched with French painting of the last fifty years.
In this work Grau Sala has a loose, subtle brushstroke, in which the color shapes the entire work. The bright and transparent whites that give life to young schoolgirls contrast with the brushstrokes of blacks from the nun who accompanies them. The explosion of greens is refreshing, it surrounds us and transports us to an idyllic place, even if it is a citizen boulevard, which becomes friendly and beautiful.
His works can be found in the Museums of the Villa de Paris, L'Ile de France Museum, at the Château de Sceaux, Honfleur Museum, La Rochelle Museum, Barcelona Museum, Tossa de Mar...

The Tree by the Lake, Värmland, By Racken Group Artist Ture Ander
Located in Stockholm, SE
This painting by Ture Ander, created in 1917, depicts a serene landscape from Värmland, Sweden. At the center of the composition is a large tree, likely a deciduous species, as suggested by the hints of autumn seen in both the tree and the meadow below it. The short brushstrokes used to depict the leaves and grass evoke a sense of movement and texture, typical of the early 20th-century artistic style. Another beautiful detail is the bluish-tinted forested mountains in the background, creating a sense of depth and tranquility.
Ture Ander played a significant role in the Racken group (Rackstadkolonin), an important artistic collective in Sweden at the time. Ander was born on September 17 in Askers socken, Örebro. At the age of 13, he became an apprentice painter in Stockholm, attending evening classes at the Technical School (now known as Konstfack) while working during the day. He earned his journeyman’s certificate in 1902, and the following year, he graduated from the Technical School with the highest honors in painting. In 1905, he was accepted into the Konstnärsförbundets skola (School of the Artists' Association), where he studied alongside notable artists like Leander Engström, Isaac Grünewald, and Einar Nerman...
