A beautiful 1960's oil on canvas by Graham Clarke depicting a surrealist landscape with rainbow and gilt framed painting on a wall. A stunning and unusual painting presented in a bespoke gilt frame. Leading example of this well known artists work.

Graham Clarke is a printmaker, author and humorist who was educated at Beckenham School of Art and Royal College of Art under Edward Bawden. He went on to become one of Britain’s most popular image-makers, creating hundreds of pictures of English rural life and history and of the Englishman’s view of Europe.
He considered himself a Man of Kent, living in the village of Boughton Monchelsea, with a strong sense of tradition and of religious, social and historical continuities. His incident-packed prints were sold in numerous galleries.
Clarke’s books included Balyn and Balan and Vision of Wat Tyler, which was praised by Kenneth Clark. Wildenstein held a series of exhibitions of his watercolours, starting in 1990. There was a sixtieth-birthday retrospective at Royal Museum and Gallery, Canterbury, 2001.
Examples of Clarke’s output are held in royal and public collections, including Victoria & Albert Museum, Tate Gallery, New York Public Library and Hiroshima Peace Museum.
