Wonderful watercolor of early Avalon, Santa Catalina Island by Guy Bedford (American, 1866-1916), 1898. Signed, titled and dated lower left corner: Condition: Good, tonal aging and edge wear consistent with age. Unframed. Image size: 10.5"H x 16"W. Acid free over-mat (image to follow). Guy Bedford was born in Carson City, NV in March 7, 1866. Bedford spent his early years in orphanages in southern California. During the 1890s he worked as an artist in Los Angeles. By 1912 he had settled in Seattle, WA where he worked for W. McClelland & Company. He died on Puget Sound on Oct. 11, 1919.
