Harry FidlerHarry Fidler, Impressionist study of a working Horse in farmyard
About the Item
A super example of Harry Fidler's impressionist studies with characteristic use of heavy impasto. The flamboyant sculpting of the paint surface cannot be fully conveyed in a 2D image and needs to be admired in the flesh.

Harry Fidler was born into a farming family in Teffont Magna, Wiltshire. He spent his early years working on the farm and didn't take any artistic training until he was in his mid thirties when he enrolled at Sir Hubert von Herkomer's renowned Art School in Bushey. The school was to produce a generation of "British Impressionists" including Algernon Talmage and Arnesby Brown.
He married a fellow artist, Laura Clunas and they returned for a time to Teffont Magna before ultimately settling in Stoke, near Andover. He exhibited extensively during his lifetime including at the Royal Academy, the New English Art Club and the Paris Salon.
His work can be found in numerous private and public collections including the Bury Art Gallery and the Grundy Art Gallery.

View AllGeorge Boyle Impressionist oil painting, Barbizon School of sheep grazing
Located in Harkstead, GB
A wonderful example of a Barbizon inspired landscape painted by the "Catford Corot" from the late 19th Century. This picturesque view has the typical Barbizon elements with a shepherdess and her flock at the edge of a forest. Beautifully presented in a good quality hardwood frame - a very atmospheric piece in ready to hang condition.
