About the Item
Signed lower left "H. Plas" (French, born 1933) and dated 1971; inscribed verso "Champs de Velden" (Fields of Velden).
A substantial Expressionist oil landscape showing a lyrical view of russet and gold fields bathed in evening sunlight outside the Dutch village of Velden.
A draftsman and painter, Henri Plas won the Louis Schmidt prize in 1966 and the Anto-Carte in 1970. Plas is listed in Benezit's Dictionary of Artists and his work is held in the permanent collection of the Cabinet of Prints of the Province of Brabant.
