About the Item
Notre Dame in the snow, early evening, along the Seine by the French artist, Henri Stenn. The painting has a wonderful tonal quality that is characteristic of the artist’s work. The sky has the look of snow that we all know. Signed lower left. The painting is in very good to excellent condition with it original period paint decorated wood frame in fine condition. Overall framed measurements 22 by 25 inches.
Henri Stenn was born in 1903 in Bruges, Belgium and died in 1993. Henri Stenn was not strictly speaking a painter in Montmartre. However, he frequented the Butte a lot, especially the estaminets at one time; he regularly came to his father Charles Verbrugghe's house on Rue Philippe de Girard. His style and subjects were very similar to those of his father, who taught him painting.
