James Mcgibbon Brown 1892 - 1974 Oil on Panel 20x24 inches sight 24x28 inch overall signed lower right good Condition Image depicts a wonderful Beach Scene with Palm Trees rare artist to find Architect James McGibbon Brown came to Miami in the carly 1920's, to work with the Federal Housing Commission. After redrement Brown devoted full time to painting. He was widely known in Miami and Florida art circles. His work hung in many public places including the Dade Courty Public Library, the Everglades Museum, the Miami Shores Public Library and a Florida landscape in the office of the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Brown was a close friend of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, and members of the Seminole Indian Tribe.
