Artist's Commentary:
I was inspired to paint this picture after a particularly beautiful early morning walk in the forest preserve. The air was still and the fog was so thick that I could barely see the trees in front of me. The only sound was the soft crunch of my footsteps on the path. I was struck by the beauty of the scene and felt compelled to capture it on canvas.
About the Artist:
A native of Illinois, Tipton's work is a response to time spent walking through the woods and forest preserves of the Chicago suburbs. As a Native American, he creates paintings that are rooted in rich memories of his childhood visits to the Cherokee farmlands of his family in Oklahoma. His connection to art stretches far back and is a reflection on the land and his ongoing expression of it. Inspired by local beauty and sense of natural space, Tipton creates paintings that recall these cherished places, allowing for one to step back into them time and again. He also digitally reworks some of his paintings to create something new. The resulting work transcends its origin, evolving into mesmerizing digital landscapes that resonate with his love for often-visited places close to home.
