About the Item

Technique and materials: Enamelled stoneware - Layered glazes - Wax reserves - Celadon porcelain inlays - Brush decorations - Glazes from my mineral research - Reductive firing at 1280°C. Signed on the back JC CANONNE The expertise of Jean-Claude Canonne is unique and it is registered as part of the national heritage by the French Ministry of Culture. This sculpture is a very long time of work of preparing, both for the design and creation of the shape but especially for the composition of the enamels, because all of these enamels composition is fired in only one shot. It's a very hard work to success these kind of work. Jean-Claude Canonne is otherwise recognised by the ceramics profession for his exceptional mastery of glazes. "Escale" : A maze of glazed stoneware canopies This glazed stoneware painting, entitled "Escale", invites us to immerse ourselves in an abstract marine world, where the tangle of sails and masts suggests a fleet ready to weigh anchor for new horizons. Jean-Claude Canonne's technique of superimposing enamels and wax reserves creates a rich, textured composition, where every detail invites discovery. Touches of celadon on porcelain punctuate the scene with nuances that evoke the reflections of the sea and the atmosphere of harbors at twilight. The interplay of colors, between dark hues and luminous flashes, lends the whole a depth that recalls the complexity of seascapes and the raw beauty of the elements. This work is both a tribute to travel and to the marine imagination. It is a testament to Jean-Claude Canonne's art, which combines technical mastery with visual poetry.
