He is also a regular participant in a number of well known California shows, including the Laguna Beach plein air painting invitational and Sonoma plein air show. "A large percentage of my paintings are created on location, "en plein air." Painting outdoors is invigorating to me. I enjoy the solitude, the sights and sounds of the outdoors. I'm driven by the challenge of capturing directly on canvas the essence of what inspires me."

Gorgeous plein air landscape of Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay by Brian Rounds (American, b. 1968). Grey-purple clouds have rolled in over Santa Cruz around sunset, casting shadows and creating highlights in the city. Streaks of light shine through the clouds, and there is a yellow glow at the edge of the water in the distance. This piece is completed in a loose, abstracted style that captures the rapidly changing scenery.
Signed and dated by the artist on verso.
Unframed, but the artist has painted the edges black to allow for a frame-less display.

Brian Rounds (American, b. 1968) is an award-winning artist who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and is now based out of Santa Cruz, California.
