About the Item
Jo Jenkins
Jo Jenkins is a retired Art teacher who now paints full time, she is inspired by her travels and walking along Coastal paths as well as mountains in the Lake District and as far afield as the Himalaya and Peru. Jenkins works from sketches and memories and is excited by extreme conditions, which produce dramatic lighting and effects. Always wanting to suggest images that are unclear and can be interpreted by the viewer in different ways. Jenkins works with layers of paint to suggest a mystery for the viewer to experience. Some paintings contain figurative references, others are abstract. Paintings exhibited with Wychwood are all in oil and gesso on either board or canvas. Jenkins is an elected member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art (MAFA) and became the Cheshire Life Landscape Artist of 2017.

Jenn painted this piece using Golden Open Acrylics, which take longer to dry and therefore allow for more blending time. Jenn uses this technique to give the painting a dreamy and hopeful essence. "I am more passionate than ever about painting peaceful, reflective art that provides serenity and beauty," she says. This piece was painted on Arches heavyweight paper and includes a 1 5/8" border around the edge for ease of framing.
About the Artist
Jenn Williamson expertly evokes the scenery of British Columbia in her soft abstract landscapes. She utilizes defining horizontal and vertical strokes, coupled with a skillful handling of color, to create significant depth in each piece. Her paintings, though abstracted, clearly convey the atmospheric attributes of the scene–rain, wind, clouds, fog. Jenn’s muted color palette transports the viewer to the Canadian west...
