About the Item

Root III is a unique oil on canvas painting by contemporary artist Joachim van der Vlugt, dimensions are 100 × 130 cm (39.4 × 51.2 in). The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Joachim van der Vlugt is the epitome of a contemporary artist and yet gets all his inspiration from the classic Dutch masters. He takes the two traditional registers of landscape and portrait and mixes them around. Armed with a paint palette purposely short on colour and somewhat sombre, black and white, brown, beige and blue, Joachim van der Vlugt superposes the layers of paint which enables him to bring the nuances and intensity of light to the fore, and also allowing images and vaporous shapes to slowly appear. He composes his paintings, all the while adding the layers, by accentuating certain parts but also by integrating geometric shapes or virtually transparent smears which bring together his compositions forming what he calls “an orchestrated chaos.”

TREE SERIES: BLUE TREES, NIGHT dramatric abstract landscape trees
By Linda Jacobson
Located in Palm Desert, CA
The moon shining in a luminous blue night illuminates two trees in a flowing, lyrical and sinewy relationship. The interpretive landscape has a dream-like quality and is inspired by a landscape Jacobson encountered in North Yorkshire, England. Jacobson creates her paintings with many layers of acrylic paint on canvas, giving her work a luminous and translucent quality. The vivid, saturated, jewel-like colors and strong compositional elements express the spiritual essence of nature. On gallery wrapped canvas. Linda Jacobson's paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by her love of landscape and its elements: form, movement, light, and what she perceives to be its essenc an energy or quality that goes beyond visual appearance. Born in Los Angeles, she received her BFA from California State College, Northridge, and graduated Summa cum Laude from the prestigious Art Center College of Design where she was mentored by pioneer California modernist Lorser Feitelson. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and abroad, including MRG Fine Art, in Los Angeles; Gallerie Rohling, Berlin, Germany; California State University Channel Islands in Ventura; Karpeles Museum in Santa Barbara, California; BG Gallery in Santa Monica; George Lawson...
