About the Item
This painting captures the serenity and vastness of the Mataleñas landscape in Santander. From a balcony, the view opens toward a cliff, where a construction post in the foreground harmonizes with the surroundings. The dominant blues and greens evoke a sense of calm and continuity. The haze in the air suggests an aerial perspective, while the sinuous shapes of the sea and green meadows contrast with the clear summer sky. The daylight accentuates contrasts, highlighting the depth and infinity of the horizon.
