Juan del Pozo
Rush Hour - original impressionism cityscape oil painting - contemporary art

2025

About the Item

This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online. In "Rush Hour", Juan del Pozo captures the vibrant pulse of London with dazzling energy and painterly finesse. This oil on linen composition offers a panoramic view of the Thames at one of its busiest moments, where iconic red buses cross a sunlit bridge and riverboats glide along shimmering waters. The city skyline rises in the distance under a sweeping sky filled with expressive, textured clouds. Del Pozo’s signature brushwork and vivid color palette bring the city to life, offering a striking blend of realism and impressionistic warmth. The artist’s ability to translate the rhythm of urban life into a work of art is on full display here. Every element—from the glinting reflections in the water to the flurry of movement across the bridge—adds to the narrative of a city in motion. Yet, despite the hustle depicted, the painting maintains a sense of serenity and wonder, making it a perfect balance of dynamism and visual calm. This piece would elevate any living space or office, serving as both a conversation starter and a tribute to the beauty of everyday moments. For collectors with a passion for cityscapes and expertly rendered light, "Rush Hour" is a standout. Del Pozo’s talent lies in transforming a familiar scene into something timeless and transcendent. Owning this work is like capturing the essence of London in full motion—brilliant, bold, and always alive. Artist biography: Juan del Pozo was born in Spain in 1969 and is the son of artist Jose Rodriguez. Juan showed artistic talent from a very early age and was nurtured by his father before going on to study in Madrid. He now continues the family tradition as a successful contemporary artist in his own right, working as a professional artist since 1989. Juan has exhibited widely across Europe, especially in Spain and Portugal, and his work has won several prestigious awards. He is a versatile artist who enjoys experimentation in different mediums, from oils to watercolours to engravings, whilst also enjoying a time as Art Director of ‘Idealiza’, an architecture company. His passion for cityscapes is evident in his paintings, focusing on the architecture of important cities across the world. Juan’s work can be found in private collections in Span, Portugal, France, Sweden, Brazil and Great Britain.

The practice of “Plein Air Painting” goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists such as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir who were advocating of plein air painting.
