An original oil on board by American artist Julius Richter.
Julius Richter, was a physician, surgeon and educator. He was born Dec. 19,1876, in Alleghany, Pennsylvania. He was educated in Buffalo public schools; the College of Commerce and Central High School; in 1904, he graduated from the University of Buffalo and received the degree of M.D. For one year he was an intern at the German Deaconess Hospital. He then was General and Orthopedic Surgeon to the Post-Graduate Hospital of New York, and private instructor in Surgery to J.J. McGrath. He served as lecturer about the Anatomy in Art, Albright Art School, Buffalo, N.Y. 1924-1934.
Richter studied art with Volney A. Richardson, Mildred C. Green, Emile Gruppe.
He was a member of the Erie County Medical Association, the Academy of Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Buffalo Society of Art, Buffalo Pr. Cl., American Physicians Art Association, and others.
Exhibited: Albright A. Gal.; City AM., St. Louis; Buffalo Soc. Art, Am. Physicians Exh., annually; Buffalo SA, annually.
Awards: 'Print of the Year' 1950; medal, Buffalo Soc. A., 1945.
