Soft yet detailed landscape by prewar Japanese artist K. Seki (Japanese, late 19th Century). This composition depicts houses on the edge of a calm, wide river. The background has a soft, misty quality, whereas the foreground is rich with detail. There are bright, flowering hedges close to the viewer, drawing in the eye towards the unfolding scene.
Signed "K. Seki" in the lower right corner.
Presented in a vintage wood frame with a linen mat.
